A chill in the air and a pep in their step

DESPITE the icy elements, dozens of charity champions turned out for an annual fundraising walk in Fossa this afternoon but the bitter late December air added a little pep to their step along the route.

Two very worthy local causes will benefit from an annual Christmas walk – now in its fifth year – organised by the Killarney Valley Classic and Vintage Club.

The starting point at 2.00pm was the Innisfallen Hotel in Fossa and the walk route brought participants along the Fossa Way to Knockreer with a 5k or a 10k option from which to choose.

Once the journey is complete the numbness was banished and the participants were afforded an opportunity to defrost with refreshments and a rousing trad session, featuring the Kerry School of Music, in the Innisfallen Hotel.

The main charity to benefit this year will be the Kerry-Cork Health Link Bus while proceeds from a post-walk raffle will go to the Ian O’Connell Fund, set up to help a Killarney teenager who was seriously injured in a fall from his bicycle.
