THE culinary skills and colourful personality of a Killarney restaurateur will reach a whole new audience throughout Ireland from this Thursday morning as the king of the kitchen, Paul Treyvaud, begins a new cookery slot on Virgin Media 1, formerly TV3.
He is joining the popular Ireland AM team, including Mark Cagney, Ciara O’Doherty and Alan Hughes, and his tasty dishes will tantalise the taste buds of an estimated audience of 60,000 people.
Paul will initially feature on the early morning show every fortnight and his first eight-minute slot will be beamed out to the nation at 8.40am this Thursday.
“I’m taking on a big challenge on the first day by cooking two different dishes with some fantastic and delicious ingredients. It will show how wonderful and how simple good food can be if the preparations are right with recipes that everybody can follow,” he said.
Paul was offered the slot during the course of ongoing talks with Virgin Media 1 programme planners about his hugely popular nine-part Treyvaud Travels cooking and travel series which was snapped up by Amazon Prime last June.
It caught the eye of the world’s biggest streaming platform and a deal was brokered with Flame Distribution, who represent the Killarney businessman. Amazon Prime is beamed into 90 million homes in America alone and, in addition to the US, Paul’s culinary skills have been viewed in several other countries, including Canada and, more recently, India.
Treyvayd’s Travels is all about unique characters and stunning locations that don’t normally get the attention they deserve and it features some cracking recipes and a whole load of fun.
“The emphasis is on having a laugh when perfecting simple cooking techniques,” said Paul.
“People are sick of nonsense on the screens and just want a cooking series that delivers on its promise,” he added.
