WITH their every move being monitored by a panel of four very distinguished adjudicators, all considerable task masters in their own right, the 12 couples that strutted their stuff in the Killarney Strictly Come Dancing fundraiser in the INEC were determined not to put a foot wrong. And they didn’t.
They produced a stunning show, full of life, full of colour, full of fantastic choreography and full of character to impress celebrity judges, Deputy Michael Healy-Rae, press photographer Michelle Cooper-Galvin, hotelier Mary MacMonagle and fashion stylish Danny Leane.
When the final deliberations were made, Kara McDonagh and Shaun McSweeney were crowned 2018 champions after patrons had been treated to a wonderful night of high quality entertainment. Kara is the general manager in Sean Taaffe’s Hair and Beauty Salon and Shaun is officer manager for Mayor of Killarney Cllr Niall Kelleher.

Weeks of rehearsals paid off for the winners who had their dance routine down to a fine art and they rocked the INEC for the major fundraiser in aid of the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Cancer Society.
“This group of kind and dedicated dancers put on an unbelievably entertaining show which was enjoyed by every person in attendance,” a spokesperson for the branch remarked.
“In today’s society, every person has been affected by cancer in one way or another and coming together and putting on shows like this, as a community, is making a difference”.
The spokesperson added: “The money raised from this fundraiser will support so many people as they’re fighting their battle. For that, we thank each and every person who showed their generosity in support”.
A total of 12 couples took to the stage in the fundraiser for the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Cancer Society and the other participants were Noreen O’Sullivan and Damien Fenton, Denise Collins and Mike Milner, Aoife McSweeney and Don Murphy, Marian Casey and Kevin Lynch, Anne Marie Nelligan and TJ O’Sullivan, Kellie O’Sullivan and Ciaran McCarthy, Niamh O’Carroll and Patrick Lynch, Norann Keane and Dermot O’Meara, Olivia Christie and Danny Brosnan, Hazel Murphy and Kieran Fleming and Finnolla Halpin and Leszek Brzozka.
