FORMER East Kerry GAA PRO Áine Ní Shiulleabháin has been appointed to the important post of children’s officer with the Kerry County GAA Executive.
The Glenflesk clubwoman was recommended and ratified for the position which is an appointed post and not subject to a contest.
The East Kerry Board and Glenflesk GAA Club have led the messages of congratulations to Áine.
“It’s well deserved and we wish her the best of luck,” the board said in a statement.
She has also served as a very efficient secretary and website manager with the East Kerry GAA communications committee.
The very progressive outgoing county coaching officer Terence Houlihan, from Laune Rangers, has been recommended for the post of planning and training officer which replaces the development officer position. That is also an appointed position and he was proposed and seconded, as required.
It has also been confirmed that outgoing Kerry County Board Chairman, Tim Murphy, has his eyes fixed on higher office and he will seek to be elected to the post of vice chairman of the Munster Council.
His five-year term at the helm of the GAA in the county will draw to a close next month.
Meanwhile, the GAA Centre of Excellence in Currans, built at a cost of €7 million, will be officially opened on Saturday, December 4 by GAA President Larry McCarthy and it will be one of Tim Murphy’s last events as Kerry chairman.
