soccer generalBRAGGING rights after a closely-fought Kerry District League Premier Division local derby this Sunday go to Killarney Celtic who squeezed past rivals Killarney Athletic on a 1-0scoreline.

It was an uncompromising, passionate encounter with both sides giving it their all and the real focus was on midfield where a real battle was fought out.

Celtic’s Gary Keane and Fergal O’Donoghue had an incredible tussle with in the engine room but, with nothing to separate the sides and scoring opportunities at a premium, it was all square 0-0 at the break.

The game changer came after a period of sustained Athletic pressure but it was Celtic that pounced for the only goal of the game when a Fergal O’Donoghue cross was turned into his own net by the unlucky Moynihan.
