A KILLARNEY man who spearheaded a local campaign against the introduction of controversial water charges has confirmed that he intends to contest the next general election in the Kerry constituency.

Kevin Murphy said while he is an independent candidate, he supports the Right2Change policy principles and movement and he maintains the people of Ireland have suffered greatly under Fine Gael, Labour and Fianna Fail.

“We are betrayed from within when we, as a nation, are at our weakest,” he said.

Announcing his intentions on Facebook, Mr Murphy said the mainstream parties know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.

“The domestic troika of Fine Gael, Labour and Fianna Fail have betrayed us, our elderly, our young and driven half a million people from our shores.

“They have devalued our work, our lives, our communities. They have continued to do so even in the face of mass protest,” he added.

The passionate campaigner said he could not allow the opportunity to change the future to pass without making a stand for the people of Kerry.

“I make my stand today and I will not be alone,” he said.
