Call for more Gardai on the beat in Killarney

Cllr Martin Grady

A Killarney councillor has called for more Gardai to go on the beat following complaints of a serious incident that is said to have occurred in the town centre on Sunday.

Cllr Martin Grady said a number of people have contacted him to highlight a violent incident that occurred at 11.30am at the Market Cross when two groups of men got involved in a brawl.

He said his information is that a number of them were brandishing dangerous implements.

“This is not acceptable. People should feel safe on our streets,” Cllr Grady said.

“We need more Gardai on the streets. We are lacking their presence,” he remarked.
