A DATE has been fixed for an oral hearing into contentious plans to develop a €20 million greenway in south Kerry.
It will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at the Manor West Hotel in Tralee and although anyone can attend, not everyone can participate in the discussion.

Cllr Michael Cahill – a big fan of the cycle path and walkway plan – said it a step closer to receiving permission for what he described as “a game-changer” for mid and south Kerry”.
“I have campaigned from day one for this facility which will be a massive benefit for this community long after we are all gone.
“Please God, everything will go smack smooth, all the landowners will be facilitated and everybody will have great new employment opportunities,” said Cllr Cahill.
The initial planning application submitted by Kerry County Council provided for a greenway amenity measuring almost 32km between Glenbeigh and Renard on the Iveragh Peninsula. The proposed greenway would run parallel to the Ring of Kerry.
The scheme impacts on 222 landholdings and 197 landowners and a number of compulsory purchase orders had been issued.
