IT’S on its way to the INEC in Killarney but students from Killarney Community College couldn’t wait to see the show so they boarded the 7am train to Dublin on Wednesday to enjoy the all-singing, all-dancing hit musical Legally Blonde.
The 30 music loving students loved every minute of the romantic comedy in the Bord Gais Theatre which has been nominated for numerous international awards.
“They loved the high intensity of the show which included not only outstanding singing and dancing, but aerobic displays and numerous lighting effects. The cast and crew got the students on side when they took to a Riverdance routine flanked by the tri-colour,” said teacher Kerri McCarthy.
But it was the canine stars, Bruiser and Rufus, that stole the show and they were deemed best actor and best supporting actor by the Killarney contingent.

Talks have already got underway about the students preparing and staging their own musical in Killarney Community College. Many of them who attended were members of the cast of the school’s Rapunzel panto and they said the trip highlighted the prospects of a full-time career in the musical industry.
Music teacher, Joanna Hughes, remarked: “It was a show with just the right balance of comedy and charm, full of uplifting music that brought the whole audience to their feet”.
And to end the day-trip on a high note, the students gave a rousing recital of the Legally Blonde soundtrack on the long train journey home.
They are already planning a second viewing when the big musical comes to the INEC on July 10-14.
