THE engines roared and the interest soared as visitors and locals lined the streets of Killarney this Sunday to witness the incredible spectacle that it the annual BikeFest parade.
Leather and denim clad bikers showcased their dream machines – from spectacular Harley Davidsons to power-packed all-purpose motorbikes – as they paraded in convoy through the streets.
For the past 11 years the BikeFest has been one of the social and visual summertime highlights in Killarney with thousands of biker enthusiasts and those just out to savour the atmosphere descending on the Gleneagle Hotel festival HQ.
Motorcycle owners and enthusiasts from over 20 countries turned out in force and the event was a real moneyspinner for Killarney with hotels, guesthouses, caravan and camping parks and restaurants all benefiting enormously.
Record numbers visited the Bike Village over the weekend to check out the bikes, enjoy the free entertainment and get up close and personal with one of the world’s most iconic brands Harley-Davidson.
The action-packed, three-day festival attracted motorcyclists in their tens of thousands from all over the world and highlights included daily ride-outs, free Harley-Davidson demo rides, a novelty dog show, a custom bike show, this Sunday’s gala parade and great free live indoor and outdoor entertainment day and night.
This year’s line-up of entertainment was epic and with free entry to all Ireland BikeFest gigs over three days, on three stages a with an outdoor stage located at the heart of the Bike Village.
The entertainment line-up included Knights of Leon, Crow Black Chicken, the Led Zepplin tribute No Stairway, Bowtie, The Cardinal Sins, Dep Leppard, the Johnny Cash Tribute Get Rhythm, Live Lizzy and festival legends Hell’s Bells.
