A novel fundraiser is being planned to support a popular Killarney man who is confined to a wheelchair following an unfortunate accident in June of 2023.
Friends and neighbours of Jerry Leary of Cornhill, along with Glenflesk GAA Club, hope to raise funds towards the purchasing of a wheelchair accessible vehicle for Jerry.
Billed as a “fun-filled mini golf classic”, the event will be held at Deerpark Pitch and Putt Club in Killarney on the bank holiday Monday, October 28.
The organisers have stressed that it’s going to be a fun day out for people with three-person teams playing a scramble format and anyone from nine to 90 – or older – can play
The various lengths of the 18 holes in Deerpark vary from the shortest hole, which is 40 metres to the longest which is 70 metres, so a player only needs to bring two golf clubs, a putter and a wedge or nine-iron.

For anyone with no access to clubs, there will be spare clubs on the day at the Deerpark clubhouse.
Deerpark Pitch and Putt club is recognised as one of the best courses in the country, and the organising committee would like to than the club committee for making it available for the classic.
A team can chose to play anytime between 8.30am to 3.30pm and all they need to do is ring and book you tee-time slot. Contact Donagh Moynihan at the Corner Bar, Barradubh (087-2755481) or Connie O’ullivan, Cue Club, Killarney (087-2833343).
The cost of entering a three-person team is €60. Tee-box sponsorship – from as little as €50 – is also available for anyone who would like to donate but is not in a position to actually play.
For tee-box sponsorship or to donate, contact either of the above numbers or any committee member.
