IT was a case of all around the house and mind the dresser as the Kilgobnet Biddies embarked on the traditional tour of Beaufort parish at the weekend.
Clad all in white and red with fetching straw hear gear, they danced, they played, they sang and they laughed with local families who were only too delighted to throw open the doors to help brighten the dark nights of January.
They celebrated the feast of St Brigid – and the official arrival of spring – as only they can and pride of place, as always, went to a home-made doll, known as a Brid Óg.
Highlight of the tour, which was in the shadow of Carrauntoohil, was the ancient brush dance which always goes down a treat with parishioners.
The Kilgobnet Biddy also raises funds for a worthy local cause with proceeds going to Kilgobnet National School.
