Kerry is expected to take a bit of a soaking as Storm Bert pays a visit this Saturday with a Status Orange rain warning issued by Met Éireann.

There will be intense falls of rain over a short period of time with the warning valid from midnight tonight until 10.00am on Saturday.

The possible impacts include surface flooding, river floods, very difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

Road users are advised to minimise their journeys and be aware of flooding and debris on the roads

There is also a separate Status Yellow wind and rain warning for Munster which could lead to very strong winds and heavy rain with the added risk of fallen trees.

That alert is valid from 10 o’clock tonight to 12 noon on Saturday with another wind warning for Kerry, bringing very strong and gusty south to south west winds, from 5.00pm on Saturday to 2.00am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, anybody planning to travel to Cork this Saturday has been advised that there is a Status Red warning in place from midnight until 10.00am tomorrow  with a risk of severe flooding, damage to homes and businesses and treacherous travelling conditions.
