KERRY TD Danny Healy-Rae, who has been organising buses to travel to and from Belfast for patients undergoing cataract and tonsillectomy procedures and joint replacement operations, has expressed his delight that the service can continue post Brexit.

The new Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme will operate for 12 months under the same terms as the EU cross border directive Scheme.

Deputy Healy-Rae, who had made representations to the Taoiseach on the matter, said it is great news for those on long waiting lists for procedures.

“I am now taking names for the next Bus to travel to King’s Bridge Private Hospital in Belfast for medical procedures,” he said.
