MEN aged between 21 and 31 have been invited to submit applications to become escorts at this year’s Rose of Tralee festival but they must be born in Ireland or of Irish descent and they can never have been married.

In the last three years, men from the agribusiness sector topped teachers and financial services employees amongst the occupations for those applying to become escorts.

The festival has also welcomed zoo keepers, plumbers, stone masons, fitness therapists, doctors and nurses to the team down through the years.

2019 Escort of the Year, Jamie Flannery ,remarked: “It has been an absolutely fantastic experience to date and we’re only halfway through the year. I’ve made friends for life from all over the world.”

Since August, he has travelled to Frankfurt for the Christmas markets, volunteered with a charity Belarus and will shortly be travelling to New York for St Patrick’s Day.

The application deadline is March 20 and candidates will be invited for interview in April, with the successful candidates taking part in a team-building boot camp in June

The festival will take place from August 21-25 and those interested should go to roseoftralee.ie to apply.
