EXCITEMENT was at its peak – quite literally – in the town at the weekend as the town played host to a big influx for the second annual Killarney Mountain Festival.
The three-day celebration of the great outdoors was run in close association with the world-renowned Kendal Mountain Festival in the UK Lake District which is twinned with Killarney.
Film screenings, musical entertainment, a 10-mile road race, guided walks, family-fun activities and inspirational guest speakers were held and the festival basecamp marquee in the Beech Road car park was a hive of activity.
The 10-mile race this Sunday morning will be in association with Hardman Events with guided walks with KerryClimbing and Quest Adventure Race for kids.
Live bands, including The Rising and The Constituents, performed at the basecamp and it was also the location for a toe-tapping super ceilí.
