IN the Munster Junior Cup a thriller finished Holycross (Limerick) 1 Killarney Celtic 2. This was real Roy of the Rovers stuff. We were 1-0 down deep into injury time and had struggled to penetrate a superb Corinthians’ defence. We had one last chance from a corner. Roy Kelliher is already renowned for calmness personified in the square, but it’s usually his own square. This time, with the situation desperate, he had joined the attack and rose highest to head the ball home.
Jubilation for Celtic, desolation for the home side, and a re-energised Celtic hit an extra-time winner when a half-chance fell into the path of a teenager, Stephen McCarthy, did with that what he always does with half-chances and Celtic were through to the next round.
Youths: Killarney Celtic 1 College Corinthians 6. No complaints, we were well and fairly beaten on the day and we wish College Corinthians the best going forward in the Munster Youths Cup competition.
Under 14: Division 1 result – Camp 7 Killarney Celtic B 0. An understrength Celtic team were well beaten by a superb Camp outfit; we never really got into the game.
Under 12 Girls: Killarney Athletic 5 Killarney Celtic 1. Celtic gave it everything but Athletic were too strong and deserved their win.
Under 12: Division 1 result – Mastergeeha 5 Killarney Celtic B 1. Cian McAuliffe slotted a neat penalty for us but Mastergeeha were the better side and were always going to win this one.
Under 12: Division 2 result – Listowel Celtic 1 Killarney Celtic C 5. A brilliant display away from home, everybody concentrated and worked hard. There is a huge and visible improvement in these players since the start of the season. Eoghan Crowley and Jim O’Brien got a brace each, with Jack O’Sullivan getting the other goal.

Killarney Athletic AFC News

Premier A: Killarney Athletic 0-2 Tralee Dynamos. This scoreline does not reflect how the game developed with the wind being a pivotal factor on the day. Athletic were very unlucky not to be 2-0 up at half time with Shane Doolan and Danny Healy being denied by the post and crossbar respectively.
Dynamos played with the wind in the second half and made the most of it by scoring the two goals to take the three points.
Under 16: Killarney Athletic 5-0 Camp. Athletic opened brightly but poor finishing kept the game in the balance. Following Harry Potts’ opener the team kicked on with lovely football and further goals from Jason Coffey (two), Fionnbharr Hickey and Reece Hegarty killed off the game. A big thanks to the parents who drove to the game.

Mastergeeha FC News

Under 12: Mastergeeha 5 Killarney Celtic 1. In a good performance, the boys got the three points with goals from Mark O’Shea, Oran Dwyer, Darragh Foley, Daire O’Shea and Colin O’Leary scoring.
Mastergeeha 1 Dingle 6. In this game at home on Saturday the boys played second from top Dingle. The physically stronger visitors were more clinical in front of goal which saw them take all three points. Mastergeeha started well and nearly went ahead with Ian O’Connor and Philip O’Leary both going close but Dingle scored two breakaway goals midway through the half to take the lead.
Shane Warren pulled one back from close range just before the break following good work from Ian O’Connor. Ian then forced a stunning save from the keeper midway through the second half but further defensive frailties handed Dingle further goals to seal the points.
Under 16: Mastergeeha 9 Asdee 2. Mastergeeha continued their unbeaten run in the league with their latest three points in the win over Asdee. It was a good team performance with hat-tricks from Paul O’Shea, Dylan Murphy and Jamie O’Shea,
Premier A: Mastergeeha 1 Camp 3. In this close game the seniors took the lead midway through the first half when Tommy O’Sullivan passed for Scott O’Mahoney to finish well. However the visitors scored two goals in quick succession just before the break.
In the second half Mastergeeha dominated with Chris Keane, Padraig Doyle, Gearóid Kerins and Scott O’Mahoney all having shots saved but the visiting keeper. In the final minute, with Mastergeeha still pushing for the equaliser, the visitors scored again.
