IT has been an eventful few weeks for Killarney Athletic FC’s underage teams but, unfortunately, they were pipped at the post in two important finals with the under 15 side going down 0-2 to Killorglin and he under 14s failing 1-3 to St Brendan’s Park in the shield decider.

In the former competition, Killorglin played with a strong wind in the first half but were unable to find the net through good defence and Matthew Ollegga in goal for Athletic making some fine saves.
A mix-up at the back in the second half let Killorglin in to score after just two minutes and Athletic conceded another with five minutes left.
Best for Athletic was Matthew Ollegga with Sam Benson, Cian Lynch, Darren Ryan and Gavin O’Sullivan also doing well.
In the under 14 shield final, Athletic were a goal down going in to the second half and the Tralee side turning the screw with two more breakaway goals. As always, heads never dropped and Athletic got a goal through Thomas Healy but time was against them.
