Are you right there, Michael? Well, maybe not this time

Mask at the ready, Michael Fassbender prepares for his audition on TikTok

It’s Michael Fassbender as you’ve never seen him before – desperate to land a role.

The Halloween Horror being staged by transition year students at Killarney’s St Brendan’s College must be some production given that the in-demand Hollywood A-lister can’t even secure a part as a masked ghost.

Encouraged by the show producers, the 12 Years A Slave, Hunger and X-Men star went to the bother of submitting several audition clips for a spooky role in the show – but all he received was a ‘thanks but no thanks’ message.

Masked man: Michael in full flow

Fassbender– a past pupil of the college who has held drama classes with pupils at his new West End School of Arts in Killarney – even went to the trouble of posting fun-filled clips online, in full Halloween attire, showing his desperate efforts to secure a part before, eventually, walking away in absolute frustration.

Giving up the ghost – so to speak – he looked downtrodden as he sighed: “A two-time Academy Award nominee – this is a disgrace”.

That prompted his film star wife, Alicia Vikander, star of The Danish Girl, to make a brief cameo appearance to remind the Fossa native that while might have been nominated twice, she was actually an Oscar winner.

What’s it all a-snout? Michael mid audition

The fun clips – posted on social media – were arranged to help to promote the Halloween Horror at Michael’s alma mater which is about to become the most haunted school in Ireland.

The public has been invited to find out for themselves on October 28-31 inclusive when the students will put on their creative and eerie school spectacular.

Tickets are priced at €7 for adults, €5 for students or children or €25 for a family of five.

On Sunday, October 30 from 5-6pm there will be a special autism friendly event.

In the meantime, to catch a glimpse of game-for-a-laugh Michael’s fun-filled audition attempts, go to halloweeninthesem22 on Instagram or TikTok.

One of the biggest and best in the business, despite the demands on his time and his hectic schedule, Michael is always willing and obliging when it comes to doing anything he can to help promote his former secondary school and ,indeed, Fossa National School where he spent eight great years.
