Appeal for support to bring mum of two home

AN important fundraising event is being organised in Killarney by the sister of a young mum of two who has been diagnosed with Mixed Cellularity Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

April Bird, whose family runs the Euroshow funfair in Killarney every summer, is hoping to raise sufficient funds to bring her sister, Kerri, home from her base in New Zealand for Christmas, if she is well enough to travel.

She emigrated six years ago to be with her New Zealand born husband, Jonathan, but they returned here to be married in 2017. Kerri and Jonathan have two young children, a three-year old-son, Hudson, and a two-year-old daughter Lexi.

Kerri has been undergoing intensive treatment in New Zealand and April will put the funds raised to good use by bringing her sister home to be with her family for an emotional reunion.

“So many people in Killarney have been so supportive and Kerri loves it here. All money raised will go towards getting my sister home to Ireland,” April told KillarneyToday.com.

The fundraiser will take the form of a hog roast party in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney on Monday next, July 30. It will start at 4.30pm and continue until 6.30pm and a succulent feast is guaranteed.

Tickets are €30 per person or €15 for children aged under 10 and they are available by calling into Bird’s Euroshow Funfair or email aprilbirdthistle@gmail.com.
