FOSSA GAA club members headed into 2014 wondering if they could come anywhere close to even matching the fantastic achievements of 2013 and the players and mentors didn’t let anyone down, a delighted secretary Merry Talbot states in his report for the club’s annual general meeting.

“We matched it in every way,” he said.

Highlights included the senior team winning two trophies, the fielding of a senior ladies team for the first time since 1979 and the Under 10 team finishing runners-up in an All Ireland competition.

In addition, the U14 girls won the County Feile, the minors won a county title and an East Kerry Division 2 championship, and a Fossa Scór na nÓg music team appeared on national television.

The club’s Under 15 girls won a County Division 1 championship, the Under 12 boys’ teams won county leagues and every other team competed in at least a semi -final of their division.

“In all the club played 154 competitive full games, winning 96 of them. Add to that five draws and two games conceded by the opposition and it is a fair success rate,” Merry said.
