Anglers cast their lines for a great cause

It is known, simply, as The Charity and it has certainly made a huge difference to the chosen beneficiaries down through the years.

And this year was no different.

The Lough Léin Anglers Association raised close to €10,000 at this year’s open wet fly charity angling competition which was held on Lough Léin, Killarney.

The annual charity event is now in its 37th year and it is still the highlight of the angling calendar of events in Killarney.

The organisation chosen to benefit from this year’s charity was the Killarney and South Kerry branch of the Irish Wheelchair Association.

This is a voluntary body and the funds raised will go towards financing a wide range of services for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues, including supports, social events and making interventions on their behalf.

To date the charity event has raised in excess of €300,000 for local and national causes..
