
A STAR footballer with Dr Crokes is to leave the playing fields behind him for a brief period of time to embark on a teaching mission to help children in need of support.
Ambrose O’Donovan will travel to Kenya for a one-month period to work in a local school with the Kenyan Education Project.
The tenacious midfielder, a qualified secondary school geography and physical education teacher, is currently generating finance to help pay for the trip and he is holding a fundraising night in The Laurels lounge on next Friday night.
“I am travelling to Nairobi in March to teach and I am hoping to fundraise as much as possible before I depart,” Ambrose said.
He has lined up some great entertainment for the Ambrose2Africa night with DJs Botty, Gav and Dun Dun on the decks. There will also be several spot prizes to be won.
