Pieta’s suicide prevention efforts in Kerry have received a major boost from 70 local companies who have collectively donated €14,200 to the charity via a continuing initiative at Kerry Airport.
Passengers travelling on outbound flights can see the logos of the many businesses who have all made donations to support Pieta’s work throughout Kerry.
Kerry Airport, Red Chair Recruitment and Slógadh Signs have driven the charity campaign since 2021 while also raising awareness of the many job opportunities that exist in Kerry.
CEO of Kerry Airport, John Mulhern, said this is the fourth year working in partnership with Pieta, a charity that the people in the south west of Ireland care about very much.
“In that time, we have presented in excess of €35,000 to Pieta in Kerry. We now have 70 local companies featured on our wall in the departures lounge, and, in fact, we’ve so many companies now we’re looking for a bigger wall,” he said.
The companies are represented on the website, https://KerryAirport.ie and the initiative has been very successful in raising funds for Pieta.
Kerry senior football captain, Paudie Clifford of Red Chair Recruitment presented the cheque for €14,200 to Pieta’s Regional Community Funding and Advocacy Team Lead, John Dempsey.
Mr Dempsey said: “Pieta are so grateful and appreciative of the overwhelming support from Kerry Airport, Red Chair Recruitment, Slogadh Signs and the businesses that have supported the Open for Business Wall.
“Pieta provides all our services free of charge and with this support, we will continue to provide a lifeline to so many families and individuals across Kerry.”
