KERRY GAA legend Aidan O’Mahony is to participate in the Camino for CRY 7 annual trek to raise money for screening services for families affected by sudden cardiac death.
He will line out alongside CRY trustee with Liam Herlihy who lost his daughter, Niamh. to sudden cardiac death in 2011 which left him determined to help others that have lost loved ones in similar circumstances.
As advocates for CRY, Aidan and Liam are heading back on the Camino together and are asking the public to join them again on completing the 107km trek to raise awareness and much-needed funds for CRY.

“I was so moved by the Camino walk last year and the stories I heard from those affected by sudden cardiac death. CRY is saving young lives with their services and I am so happy to support them as an ambassador,’ said Aidan.
The five-time All-Ireland winner added: “I am asking for people to join me on the Camino this year so we can save more young lives from sudden cardiac death.”
The Camino offers a haven for self-reflection and an opportunity to disconnect and it is suitable for almost anyone as a rewarding challenge.
The seven-night trip will begin in the walled city of Lugo and after two days the trail will join the Camino Frances in Melide, with the final destination being Santiago, where participants will be able to get the Compostela, the traditional certificate of pilgrimage on completion.
The CRY Camino will take place from September 19-26.
