Anything his dad could do on the pitch and putt course, talented young sportsman Adam Kelly proved that he could match.

Just as his father, Declan, registered an outright victory in the Willie Parker memorial tournament at Killarney’s Deerpark Pitch and Putt Club the previous week, Adam was the star of the show at the weekend when he grabbed the limelight by winning Seán Kelly’s sought-after captain’s prize.

Hotshot Adam won the overall nett in the men’s grade with a great score, in very testing conditions, of 87, the only player to break 90.

The club has thanked all played on Sunday as the elements had to be braved for many in the second round after a dry start but the grounds committee ensured the course was in fine condition.
