THE Abbot of Glenstal Abbey will deliver the keynote address to the priests of Kerry at this year’s diocesan assembly on Thursday, January 8.
Renowned author Mark Patrick Hederman uses biography, art and liturgy as starting points for creative writing and he maintains that, when the world is experienced symbolically, the energy of God takes over as the operating fuel in people’s personalities.
The Abbot will speak to the Bishop of Kerry and the priests of the diocese at the annual assembly which will this year take place in the Brehon Hotel, Killarney.
Later that night the Abbot will deliver a free public lecture, entitled What is God at?, in the Gleneagle Hotel at 8.00pm.
Abbott Hederman is a Benedictine monk, teacher, lecturer and writer who is one of a family of four from Ballingarry.
He earned a doctorate degree from UCD in the philosophy of education and he has lectured in philosophy and literature in the United States and Nigeria.
