Accomplished musicians, husband and wife Derry and Rosie Healy, along with Sliabh Luachra’s finest accordion player, Bryan O’Leary, performed in the historic setting, joined by a chorus of birds, from 5.00am.
The Dawn Chorus was introduced by conservation rangers from Killarney National Park with expert bird descriptions and guidance from Sam Bayley, Mary Sheehan, Padruig O’Sullivan, Jess Burkitt, Sean Forde and Tricia Beecher.
Along with Muckross Abbey, the Dawn Chorus included bird sounds from the sixth century monasteries of Innisfallen Island and Skellig Michael with live commentary the latter venue by Brian Power.
