TALENTED performer Michelle O’Callaghan will play the lead role in Killarney Musical Society’s production of Calamity Jane in March.
Her delightful voice will be heard by audiences that will pack the INEC for the event on March 9, 10 and 11.
Michelle, who was previously involved with the Teen Spirit musical youth group, is one of Killarney’s finest talents and she was one of the stars of the recent Tops of the Town when she appeared as a singing and dancing American tourist in the Glenflesk GAA Club show.
The experienced Derek O’Leary will play the lead role as Wild Bill Hickock. He has been a regular on stage with the musical down through the years and he possesses a very fine voice that will certainly impress the audiences on each of the three nights.
Other key roles have gone to Padraig Creedon – another star of Glenflesk’s Tops of the Town show – who will play the part of Lt Danny Gilmartin. He will be joined on stage by his Intermediate School Killorglin teaching colleague, Clíonadh Dorgan and other principal roles have gone to Siobháin Bustin, Lily MacMonagle, Jack Patrick Healy and Fergal Cleary.
This is Killarney Musical Society’s 31st production and this year’s show boasts a fantastic cast and chorus with many new members, who will make up the scouts, cowpunchers, bullwhackers, prospectors, trappers, Indians, chorus girls, officers, soldiers and stage coach passengers.

Society PRO, Jessica Murphy, remarked: “Rehearsals are now well underway with dance and vocal practice each week. As we approach this year’s exciting show, the committee will be busy calling on all our patrons who kindly offer us patronage year in year out for which we will be very grateful.”
Tickets for Calamity Jane are now available at the INEC box office, on the INEC website and on Ticketmaster.
