You’ve got to admire Michael Fassbender’s stamina – for want of a better description.
KillarneyToday.com would be the first to advise you not to believe everything – perhaps anything – you read in the papers. But it hasn’t escaped our notice that in an effort to boost flagging sales, sections of the seriously under pressure print media have gone into a state of near hysteria to breathlessly speculate on the Fossa actor’s personal life.
In the lead-up to the glittering Oscars ceremony in LA, the 36-year-old had been linked to a string of beautiful women and, depending on who was dishing out the daily helping of celeb gossip, he had no shortage of offers to join him on the red carpet, so to speak.
The swashbuckling 12 Years A Slave actor was, according to several reports, regularly dating fellow actor Gerard Butler’s ex-girlfriend, Madalina Ghenea, a model and actress who was previously very close to Leonardo DiCaprio.
Fassbender had been spending time in Romania, where he was filming, and he is said to have spent some quality time in the company of the beautiful brunette in her native country.
The scoop-starved printed press went into a spin when Ghenea posted a snapshot on Facebook showing a sliver of a man’s face with a red beard, similar to that adorning the Fassbender face as he prepared for his lead role in Macbeth.
Other reports claim that the St Brendan’s College past pupil was spotted with another mystery woman on the New Zealand set of Slow West but the latest – and by far most intriguing – storyline being unveiled is that Fassbender and his 12 Years A Slave co-star Lupita Nyong’o (31) are an item.
An unnamed source – there’s always one available when journalists set about meeting the challenge of filling the space – told the tabloids that the duo have “an incredible connection” and that Fassbender is very keen on the Kenyan born star.
Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner Lupita is currently the most in-demand actor and, in addition to her powerful on-screen presence, she is regarded as one of the world’s most beautiful women.
The papers, of course, never let the truth get in the way of a good story and the only undeniable fact is that the brilliant Fassbender chose very wisely when he decided on his stunning date for the Oscars ceremony – his mum Adele.
