A TALENTED Killarney Celtic side produced a super performance to crush a fancied Shannon Town outfit in the prestigious Under 12 National Cup at the weekend.
Celtic notched a glut of goals in a convincing 8-1 victory to advance to the next stage of the competition and they were already 4-1 ahead at half-time.
They completely dominated the game in the second half, running out very comfortable winners in the end to qualify for the fourth round.
Pa McCarthy was a hat-trick hero on the day for Celtic and the others on target were Daniel O’Sullivan, Stephen Shine, Kiernan Kelly, Tristan Murphy and Marco Mosca.
There was no such luck, unfortunately, for the Celtic’s seniors who were beaten 2-1 by Villa FC of Waterford in the FAI Junior Cup.
Celtic got off to a bad start by conceding a penalty in the opening minutes which was very neatly saved by Roy Kelliher but Villa soon took the lead when a cross from the left was finished to the net from close range.
Celtic bounced back when Stephen McCarthy equalised to leave the sides level at the break but Villa took the honours with an outstanding shot from outside the area.
