A MAN was viciously stabbed a number of times as he made his way to his apartment on the outskirts of town on Friday evening, KillarneyToday.com can reveal.
The attack occurred in broad daylight – just after 5 o’clock – and the victim was set upon by a number of people who confronted him in the car park outside an apartment block on the Park Road area.
The victim, understood to be in his early 30s, was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Kerry in a serious condition but, it is understood, he has since improved and his condition is no longer considered life-threatening.
Gardai sealed off and preserved the scene overnight and a forensic examination was conducted this morning.
House to house enquiries were carried out today and CCTV footage from the area is being examined.
Gardai say they are following a number of lines of enquiry and their investigations are ongoing.
The victim is believed to be originally from the north Kerry area but he has been living in Killarney for a number of years.
