THE quick-talking, all-action Davy Fitzgerald is bringing his toughest team to Kerry after their original destination, Mount Everest, proved out of reach due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions.
Thousands of TV viewers have enthusiastically embraced Davy’s Toughest Team on RTÉ which sees the legendary hurling boss training and motivating a group of seven young men for the toughest challenge of their lives.
Blood, sweat and tears were observed by viewers as the Wexford manager put his young charges through their paces in preparation to climb to the base camp of Mount Everest.
In the first two episodes of the hit four-part series, filmed before the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the show features the young men involved grappling with major issues like drug addiction, homelessness, unemployment and mental health challenges.

But the bonds of friendship they had forged and their determination to conquer base camp kept them united – until Covid-19 threw their plans into chaos.
With that option off the agenda, Davy, his fellow motivators and the young participants headed instead to Kerry where they swapped Everest for Carrauntoohil and embarked on their challenges big in the great Kerry outdoors.
Davy thoroughly enjoyed his trip to the Kingdom and declared: “It was honestly some of the best fun I’ve ever had. It was a wonderful time”.
Tune in to RTÉ One next Monday night (9.35pm) to see Davy and the lads in action in Kerry where the even found time to have a fun-filled game of volleyball on the beach.
The producers say the aim of the show was to see if say if Ireland’s Fittest Family coach Fitzgerald’s unique style of man-management could motivate the seven young men who didn’t have the easiest of journeys through life to date.
