AS Covid-19 continues to have a devastating impact on businesses, Killarney Golf and Fishing Club has called a special general meeting to highlight concerns to members.
It will be held on Thursday, September 24 with three motions to be put to members to vote on.
One states that the management council, having reviewed the club’s financials and taken feedback from members, is seeking approval for the introduction of a Covid-19 emergency support levy.
Another motion proposes that, given the circumstances of this year, the club captain, lady captain and president will continue in their current positions through 2021.
The management council is also proposing that, as 2020 does not count for the male and female club committees, all members may serve again next year without exceeding the five-year maximum outlined in the club constitution.
Government and Golfing Union Covid-19 restrictions prohibit the club from having a physical special general meeting and the management committee will endeavour to keep the event as close to normal practice as is possible. Voting on the proposed motions will take place online and results will be independently verified.
