REIGNING Rose of Tralee Sinéad Flanagan has added the stunning dress she wore when she won the title to the Gowns of Glory exhibition in the Kerry County Museum.

The winning Limerick Rose, who is a doctor, wore a fabulous emerald green lace dress which was a smash hit with the watching public.

The display showcases the attire worn by Roses of Tralee over the past 60 years and, in doing so, it charts the changing trends in formal fashion wear from several locations around the world.

The unique exhibition was formally opened this time last year by fashion guru Celia Holman Lee and it features many of the beautiful gowns worn by the winning Roses who starred at the annual festival.

The exhibition includes over 40 dresses from six decades, from 1959 winner Alice O’Sullivan’s gown in 1959 to the present day.

In the early years of the pageant, the Roses either made their own dresses or bought them in local boutiques but now top class designers are anxious to get involved and to highlight their specific creations on of the nation’s most-watched TV programmes.
