It’s Nation once again as Lakers lose

Toby Christensen: 18 points

JUST as he did last season, Ballincollig hotshot Andre Nation returned to Killarney and gave a demonstration to Scott’s Lakers as the runaway Men’s Division One leaders registered an emphatic 20 point victory.

A great crowd squeezed into the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre for the most eagerly anticipated game of the season on Saturday night but American Nation was the standout player and he tormented Killarney on his way to a 36-points haul.

Ballincollig triumphed 88-68 and they held the edge all through, keeping Killarney’s American duo, Aaron Jackson and Xavier Talton, under control and limiting them to 14 and 11 points respectively.

Dynamic Dane Toby Christensen was the pick of the bunch for Lakers with 18 points but Nation had great support from Ciaran Sullivan (19) and Inigio Zabola (1).

Ballincollig led 53-29 at half-time and, even at that stage, it was clear that there was no way back for Killarney.

In the Super LEage Garvey’s Tralee Warriors has an 80-77 home victory over DBS Eanna while Keane’s SuperValu Killorglin edged out Maree 78-73 in Calsanctius College.

In the Women’s Division 1, Team Tom McCarthy Castleisland overcame Swords 71-59 on the road.
