A HUGELY popular Killarney restaurant has been named the best fine dining establishment in Ireland in the 2019 Travellers’ Choice Awards by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest and most respected travel platform.
Rozzers Restaurant in the Killeen House Hotel has earned the top accolade as voted by guests who post reviews on the worldwide social media platform.
The announcement was made in London and it sparked great celebrations at Rozzers where proprietor Geraldine Rosney and head chef Paul O’Gorman spearhead the dedicated team.
Geraldine Rosney said the restaurant and the hotel have been honoured with many awards over the years but being voted the number one fine dining restaurant in Ireland, on the world’s leading travel review website, is a very special achievement.
“You know for sure that you’re doing something right and that’s why this award is extra special for all the team,” she said.
“Paul O’Gorman provides the inspiration on a daily basis and he has forgotten more about gastronomic perfection that most chefs will ever know. He has been with us for over 20 years and he is a joy and a pleasure to deal with,” Geraldine added.
Rozzers Restaurant climbed up the rankings this year having being placed seventh in 2017 and second in 2018 to become Ireland’s best fine dining eatery.
The creative force in Rozzers is head chef Paul O’Gorman who leads a great team serving up a host of tantalising dishes. Specialties include grilled medallions of monkfish wrapped in Parma ham on a Mediterranean style couscous with wilted baby spinach, topped with crisp sugar snaps and a basil dressing and vanilla brûlée with a forest berry compote and a home-made hazelnut cookie.
Hayley Coleman of TripAdvisor remarked: “The fine dining restaurant scene is extremely competitive so for Rozzers Restaurant to have consistently climbed up the rankings year after year to claim the number one spot in Ireland is a huge achievement and is testament to the stellar job that the team is doing”.
The Travellers’ Choice Awards for Restaurants honour favourite dining establishments worldwide. Based on a full year of TripAdvisor reviews, the winning establishments were consistently given high ratings and praise by diners across the globe.
Award winners were determined by factoring in the quantity and quality of reviews, gathered over a 12-month period. Close on 490 million people every month across the globe use the TripAdvisor site and app to browse more than 795 million reviews and the opinions of 8.4 million accommodations, restaurants, experiences, airlines and cruises. The ultimate travel companion is available in 49 markets and 28 languages.
