THE Killarney winner of a cool €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize intends to use the windfall to pay off the mortgage and clear a few bills before treating his family to something special.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, has collected his cheque from the National Lottery offices in Dublin and he described the win as life-changing.
“We are a hardworking family and, like everybody else, we have bills and mortgage payments every month,” he said.
“This prize allows us to pay off our mortgage and it gives us so many options for the future. This means the absolute world to me and my family,” he added.
The lucky winner said he heard word around the town that the winning ticket was sold in The Rock Centra store on Rock Road and, having bought his Quick Pick ticket there, he was too nervous to check it for hours, knowing that there was a chance he could be the winner.
“It was one of those feelings where I just knew it was me. When I finally did pluck up the courage to scan is on my phone app, it came as no surprise to see the winner’s message popping up on my phone. It was just pure class,” the delighted winner stated.
