THIS was the disgraceful double dilemma encountered by a wheelchair user close to Killarney town centre last Saturday evening.
Two illegally parked cars blocked the footpath on the same stretch of road as he attempted to make his way home and he was forced to go on to the busy road to pass by one of the vehicles.
The annoyed wheelchair user, who asked for his name to be withheld to protect his privacy, said it caused him great inconvenience and it put him at risk on a day of very heavy bank holiday weekend traffic in Killarney with the Kerry v Kildare match in progress at Fitzgerald Stadium.

A red Audi was parked half up on the footpath and on a double yellow line near the High Street junction on St Anne’s Road while, further along the road, a silver Ford, parked close to a local health centre, leaving a narrow space beside a wall, made it impossible for the man to pass without going on to the road.
“I was just about able to squeeze inside the red car but it was impossible to get by the silver vehicle,” the victim of the irresponsible parking remarked.
He contacted KillarneyToday.com to ask us to highlight the situation which, he said, is a problem that faces many wheelchair users, as well as mothers with babies in prams, in several areas around the town.
“It will show how such inconsiderate drivers can impact on wheelchair users,” he said.
