
THE death has been announced in Killarney of Mary McCullagh, a very popular local lady who was a very efficient and dedicated nurse in the New Street medical practice run by her husband, Dr John McCullagh, for many years.
Formerly of Blarney, Co Cork, she passed away, after an illness, on Monday and her funeral will take place this Wednesday and Thursday.
Mary is survived by her husband, John, sons Billy, John and Brian, daughter Aoife, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Elliot, Cory and Christian.
She is further survived by her sisters Anne and Christine, brothers Seán, Brian, Brendan and Noel, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and many friends.
Killarney Legion GAA Club has issued a message of sympathy to her relatives as the McCullagh family has close connections with the club, with Billy, John and Brian all having played in the green and white up through the ranks.
Reposing at her family home, at New Street, Killarney, on Wednesday evening from 4.00pm to 8.00pm, the funeral will arrive at St Mary’s Cathedral on Thursday morning at 10.00am for Requiem Mass at 10.30am. Cremation will take place afterwards in the Island Crematorium, Cork at 4.00pm.
The family has asked for donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to be made to the Oncology Unit, Bon Secours Hospital, Cork or the Palliative Care Unit, Kerry General Hospital.
