THE death has occurred in Killarney of Frank Howe, the former long-serving station master at Killarney Railway Station, who was a very familiar face for a whole generation of commuters.
Mr Howe, who passed away at his home in Tullig, Spa on Tuesday, was respected as a very efficient and courteous station master and he devoted long hours and great dedication to his role, with his family living in a residence adjoining the station during his tenure.
He is survived by his wife, Diana, sons Fr Michael – a member of the Columban Fathers – Joe, Brendan and Frank, daughters Mary, Carmel, Siobhán and Deirdre, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, his brother Pierce, sister Mercedes and many other relatives and friends.
Reposing at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney on Friday evening from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, removal will take place afterwards to St Mary’s Cathedral. Requiem Mass will be at 12 noon on Saturday with burial afterwards in Aghadoe Cemetery.
At the request of the family donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Franciscan Friary, Killarney.
