THREE Kerry candidates are in the running to be the biggest individual vote-winner in the country in the forthcoming general election, according to odds quoted by bookmakers Paddy Power.

Independent Michael Healy-Rae is quoted at the very short odds of 6/1 to win the greatest first preference vote in Ireland with Fine Gael Minister Jimmy Deenihan and Sinn Fein’s Martin Ferris both offered at a price of 66/1.

Joining Deputy Healy-Rae in the top five in terms of odds are Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams (5/4), Taoiseach Enda Kenny (9/4), Independent Mick Wallace (11/4) and Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty (11/2).

Others shortlisted, at odds varying from 14/1 to 40/1, include Independents Michael Lowry, Shane Ross and Clare Daly, Sinn Fein’s Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin and Fine Gael Ministers Richard Bruton and Michael Noonan.

Tanaiste Joan Burton is quoted at 150/1 to be the country’s biggest single vote winner with Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin at 66/1.
