The Health Service Executive has agreed to extend the date of changes to the reimbursement for patients travelling by bus to Belfast for cataract procedures until the end of August, Deputy Danny Healy-Rae has confirmed.
He had raised the matter in the Dáil with Taoiseach Simon Harris and Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly, and he is now advising anybody who is in need of cataract surgery to book a place on one of the three buses he has arranged during the month of August.
They can do so by contacting Deputy Healy-Rae’s office on 064-6685315 and everything will be arranged.
“I am continuing making strong representations in the hope that until such time as the Government can provide a proper service for people in the Republic of Ireland, this reimbursement is reinstated to the full amount to ensure people can go to Belfast to get their sight back,” he said.
