The President of the Irish Hotels Federation has said it is critical that the right conditions are in place to deliver a sustained recovery for the sector so that the wider tourism industry lives up to its full potential.

Michael Magner was commenting following the appointment of Brian Lawlor as Kerry IHF branch chair, Brian Lawlor, who has succeeded the long-serving Bernadette Randles.

Mr Magner said the organisation will continue to advocate for members at the highest levels of government.

“The tourism and hospitality sector is Ireland’s largest indigenous employer, supporting over 270,000 livelihoods,” he said.
