An annual memorial pitch and putt tournament in memory of a late great stalwart of the Deerpark Club turned into a very special day for one participant.
John McGrath won the Danny Nolan Memorial for a second time and, if that wasn’t enough, he also won the hole-in-one prize with a great shot at the 17th.

Jason O’Connor was on the winning team for a third time and Jean O’Shea was also on the winning team.
Meanwhile, the Johnny Kelly Memorial Shield for the best gross score went to Gearóid Cronin, Denis Looney and Bobby Kelly with 13 under par.
Inaugurated in 2012 after Danny Nolan’s untimely passing the previous year, the memorial event has proved to be a real success not just with club members but also with the many friends Danny made throughout his time as they gather to reminisce about a very popular character.

Danny, from Dalton’s Avenue, served on the Deerpark committee for many years and he was chairman of the club during a successful period from the mid 1990s until the mid 2000s. He was a mainstay in the clubhouse and Danny was always there to welcome members and visitors to the course he loved.
Results: Danny Nolan Memorial (Nett): John McGrath, Jason O’Connor and Jean O’Shea 28.
Johnny Kelly Memorial (Gross): Gearóid Cronin, Denis Looney and Bobby Kelly 41 and hole- in-one: John McGrath (17th hole).
