Killarney Cougars will have two recent signings in the starting line-up for this Saturday night’s crunch game with Waterford Vikings at the Pres Gym (7.15pm).
Harlem’s Darren Townes’ experience of playing in Germany, Portugal, Iceland, Finland and Sweden combined with two national super cup medals won with Neptune and Templeogue will bring the vital experience to a young Killarney side.
Young Dutch guard Esebio Strigdhatig will add more strength in depth to the Cougars as they continue to rebuild following a catalogue of injuries in recent weeks.
The sides recent meeting saw the Cougars coming out on top but an understrength Killarney side went down heavily on the road to a strong Limerick Celtics and SETU Carlow.
The Cougars’ recent injury list has unfortunately been further added to with Alex Fleming, Andraz Rakovec and Darragh Hayes all out of action for the next month.
American Cameron Scales is also unavailable due to a family bereavement.
Waterford have added two significant signings since the teams’ last meeting and center Freeman Brou and forward Gytis Vasiliauskas both will add more scoring potential for the Vikings as the season progresses.
The experienced coaches Micheal Evans and Dean Kavanagh are both keen to claim their first win of the campaign and with a more settled team they are expected to make it a difficult night for the home side in what should be a very exciting contest.
