Five houses raided by burglars

Screen Shot 2017-01-23 at 15.01.45GARDAI are investigating a spate of burglaries that occurred in the Killorglin area at the weekend with five separate houses targeted by thieves.

The raids occurred late on Saturday night or early on Sunday morning and the culprits gained access to the properties by smashing windows or forcing open doors.

All the houses were unoccupied at the time and the thieves made off with a substantial quantity of goods, including jewellery, cash, electrical goods and, in one instance, a half empty bottle of aftershave.

“They are grabbing whatever they can,” a Garda spokesperson remarked.

Anybody that might have noticed anything suspicious or unusual activity in various parts of Killorglin are asked to contact their local Garda station.

All the raids took place between 9 o’clock on Saturday night at 10am on Sunday. Another burglary was attempted in the Beaufort area, also on Saturday night, but the culprits fled empty handed when they struggled to gain entry to the property.
