THE incredible worth of the Gleneagle INEC Arena to the Killarney economy has been clearly outlined in a report conducted by a Dublin based consultancy firm.
Research conducted by specialist consultancy company CHL found that in 2018 alone, over 230,000 people attended one of the 194 shows and conferences that took place at the Killarney complex over the course of the 12-month period months.
The 194 events generated in excess of 280,000 bednights for the county, 83,226 of which were in at Gleneagle Group properties and 196,921 across Kerry.

Those attending the events contributed a whopping €34.6 million to the economy.
CHL reported: “The INEC/KCC is clearly good for the wider Killarney tourism and hospitality economy, though as a private commercial trading entity, the Gleneagle Group might not consider that it is its role to generate such wider economic gains”.
It added: “The fact remains that it does so and it has been doing so for the past 20 years. If the INEC/KCC did not exist, these gains would not arise and Killarney would be the poorer for it.”
The key findings of the report were outlined to Killarney’s business leaders at a webinar organised by Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce on Friday.
