
AN alarming 500 new cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in the Killarney municipal district in the 14-day period up to Monday last.
The case-load in the area represents an incidence rate of 1,688.8 per 100,000 population and it is one of the biggest surges recorded in Killarney for quite some time and it represents a 40 per cent hike in cases in just one week.
A total of 413 cases were confirmed in the Tralee district over the same 14-day period , with 273 in the Kenmare district, 258 in Listowel, 201 in Castleisland and 123 in Corca Dhuibhne.
Nationally, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre was today notified of 4,620 confirmed cases of Covid-19
571 patients with the disease were in hospital with 118 in intensive care.
