THREE more cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Kerry, bringing the total number of people known to be infected in the county to 47.
The latest statistics, released tonight by the health authorities, reveal that 14 more people, all in the east of the country, have died as a result of contracting Covid-19 and the total number of fatalities now stands at 36.
The total number of cases confirmed in Ireland is 2,415 and 53 per cent of those are male.
In terms of the ages of those who have contracted the virus, 20 per cent are aged between 45 and 54 and 19 per cent are over 65.
Seven per cent of patients are aged between 15 and 24 and just one per cent is under the age of 14.
25 per cent of infections were by community transmission, 13 per cent can be traced back to travel abroad and 12 per cent resulted from close contact with a confirmed case. The origin of 55 per cent of cases is still being investigated.
Kerry, with 47 confirmed cases, is now seventh in the list of coronavirus blackspots in the country, following Dublin (1,070), Cork (184), Galway (63), Wicklow (58), Kildare (56) and Westmeath (52).
All statistics were measured at midnight on Thursday.
